The Toronto Marlies won in overtime last night to force Game 3 against the Belleville Senators on the road on Sunday. The first round in the North Division playoffs is a best-of-three as a play-in to the normal bracket.

The Marlies had a 3-1 lead in the second, but allowed two power play goals at the end of the second and at the end of the third as Belleville forced overtime. Dylan Gambrell was the hero, scoring early in overtime.

Kyle Clifford got a five minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Tyler Kleven near the end of the second – we'll see if he gets suspended.

In other playoff hockey, Easton Cowan and the London Knights won Game 1 of their third round series against Saginaw. Cowboy had an assist and the empty netter in the 3-1 win.

The Saskatoon Blades lost Game 1 of their third round series to Morgan Rielly's former Moose Jaw Warriors. Brandon Lisowsky got an assist while he and Fraser Minten were +2 after the game. Brayden Yager won it in overtime for the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, oops, I mean Warriors.

The NHL playoffs, the Colorado Avalanche have a 2-1 lead as the lower seed against the Winnipeg Jets. The Rangers are doing their job and dispatching the Capitals, that series is 3-0. Both Vancouver and Edmonton are 2-1 in their series after wins last night.

Tonight, the Hurricanes and Panthers could sweep the Islanders and Lightning. This could be Steven Stamkos' last game with the Tampa Bay Lightning as his contract expires at the end of this season. The Vegas Golden Knights won both games on the road against division-winners Dallas. That series could also be over shockingly quickly with Game 3 tonight. And, of course, Leafs-FTB.

The Boosh family welcomed home baby #3 yesterday.

Brodie was skating in his spot during practice, but on the third pair while Liljegren was with Rielly. Unclear whether it's Boosh or Liljegren or still Brodie out of the lineup.

One of my students told me William Nylander is playing tonight while reading a THN article in class. The actual answer is much less certain.

The Leafs penalty kill (including Brodie) spent extra time after practice working on improvements.
